Dilworth Old Boys' Benevolent Trust
The Old Boys’ Benevolent Trust was established by the Old Boys’ Association as part of the School’s 60th Jubilee celebrations in 1966
The objects of the trust are, in broad terms:
To provide financial and/or other assistance to Old Boys (including Honorary Members of DOBA) and includes provisions for the widows and children of deceased Old Boys.
Typical cases supported by the trust have included Old Boys who have on-going health issues or suffered accidents reducing their income potential, those who have lost a partner and are raising young children on their own, Old Boys who have partners or children who are very ill, elderly Old Boys of limited means and those who have experienced sudden and catastrophic financial or personal difficulties.
Through fundraising, donations, and bequests, the Benevolent Trust now has a significant financial base to enable generous grants to be made to qualified recipients. The Dilworth Trust Board is now also an annual contributor to the fund.
The Trust’s committee includes the incumbent DOBA President, the Headmaster, a DTB nominee and a DOBA nominee. All grants are made on the basis of suitability and are funded by income earned on assets which are invested in the financial markets.
If you believe you qualify for assistance or if you know of anyone else in the Dilworth community who needs help please contact dobbt@dilworth.school.nz . The details of all applications and grants are treated in the strictest confidence.
